The Von Bach dam and resort can be reached turning right off the main B1 road just south of Okahandja driving from Windhoek. The turn off is well signposted.
Location. The dam itself is located on outskirts of Auas mountains and belongs to Swakop river drainage system. The game park covers 4 300 ha.
History. The construction of the dam commenced in 1968 and it was commissioned on 1970. The capacity of the dam is 50 million cubic meters. It is the main water source for Windhoek.
Vegetation. The vegetation of the area can be classified as thornbush savanna. Dominant tree species are camel thorn, blue thorn, sweet thorn and ringwood tree.
Wildlife. Mountain zebra, eland, springbok, kudu, baboons and ostriches represent wildlife of the park.
Angling. Angling permits can be obtained from the resort's office. The following species occur in the dam: blue carper, small-mouth yellowfish, carp, barbel, large-mouth bass.
