Dordabis

The tiny settlement of Dordabis makes an interesting detour to see the karakul carpet weaves, Ibenstein Weavers. The produce a range of animals and African design in varying sizes as carpets and well hangings. They don't come cheap; as a measure, a metre square rug will cost you roughly US$200, but it will certainly last your lifetime. The weary sizes been going since 1952 and today it supports 20 weavers. The sheeps' wool arrives in varying colors of gray, fawn, black and white, some of it is then dyed, before being spun and weaved by hand. The weavery is just south of the village (i.e. left at the T-junction).
