Epupa Falls

The falls are a beautiful series of cascades where the Kunene River drops a total of 60 m over a distance of about 1.5 km. The main drop is roughly 32 m. As the river drops, it divides into a multitude of channels creating hundreds of small vegetation islands. Most visitors content themselves with a quick stroll along the rocks high above the river, downstream of the falls affording fine view back towards the falls. From here you can appreciate their extent and beauty, and see the range of vegetation (particularly the precariously placed baobabs). Beware of snakes on land and crocodiles in the water. Just before sunset, drive a short way back towards the airfield and take the only track to the right. This leads up to the top of the hill where you are presented with a magnificent view of the falls and all the islands. An ideal spot for your sundowner.
