The lodge fits in harmoniously with the environment. The landscape changes

white marble hills, Savannah and arid areas. An unbelievable variety of wild
animals, plants and minerals can be found on ETUSIS.
Activities

Hiking on marked tracks
This trail is approximately 30 km long and really only
suitable for the more experienced hiker, although there are several shortcuts
described under different letters. Should you choose this trail, it is
strongly advised that you take sufficient water, a packed lunch and a radio
telephone, as well as keys for the rest huts on the way.
The initial 23 km are relatively flat Savannah. There is a good chance that
you will catch sightings on this route of Kudu, Oryx, Blesbok, Springbok,
Warthog, Steenbok, Bat-eared fox, Surikate and many different kinds of birds.
Further on the trail leads through a valley between the white marble hills and
the red Otjipatera mountain range, where the Hartmann's mountain zebra, the
Klipspringer, Rock dassies and Chacma baboons roam. Kudu and Impala are also a
frequent sight.
Mountain climbing The Etusis Lodge has recently opened its doors to Rock Climbing.
Host climbing site

has a very good quality red quartzite and is a fine place for the trad climber
wanting to practice his skills. The Etusis Game Reserve is also ideally situated
19 kilometers south west from the town of Karibib on route from Windhoek to the
Spitzkoppe mountain. Etusis has a rustic but comfortable mountain hut
overlooking a river with rock pools where game
come s to drink. It is only a 5 minute walk to the climbing rock face. Meals
are supplied from the Lodge upon request on a daily basis at a very reasonable
rate. Sleeping facilities are 2 double bunk beds with mattresses in a single
room. The hut has a (cold) shower, toilet, braai facilities, table and chairs.
This hut is particularly appealing for the self-drive climber/s.
